Data Breach At Big Insurance Brokerage

Hub International Ltd., an insurance brokerage providing property, risk management, and other products and services in North America, says unknown parties accessed portions of its website and copied files between December 2022 and January 2023. Sensitive data related to employees and customers was revealed. The initial review established that the accessed data pertains to various groups, including insurance carriers and employers served by HUB. The breach primarily affected its U.S. operations but some Canadian customers were affected. Data breaches have been reported by several insurance brokers in the past few years. Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. suffered a ransomware attack in 2020. Ryan Specialty was hit in 2022, and Aon reported a breach in 2022. According to HUB, new security measures and employee training initiatives have been instituted since the incident.
